Johan Blomberg was substituted on in the 79th minute of Colorado’s first match against Sporting K.C. and departed eight minutes later after receiving his second yellow card.
Performance Review
Johan Blomberg was a solid rotation option for the Rapids in 2018, playing more than 1600 minutes across 24 appearances under Anthony Hudson’s first year in charge. However, the end of 2018 brought with it the arrival of Cole Bassett in competition for minutes. It became clear very early on in 2019 that Blomberg was fourth choice at best. Aside from the aforementioned SKC yellow card bananza, there was never anything memorable about Blomberg’s play with the Rapids.
Future Expectations
After only three appearances, Blomberg left the Rapids midseason to join GIF Sundsvall on loan (where he’s already tallied three goals in eleven matches).
When Blomberg departed, Colorado made it clear he would be on loan for the remainder of his contract. It’s safe to say that there is nothing more to expect from the Swedish midfielder
