Rapids transfer target Romain Gall signed a four-year contract with Malmö FF, the Swedish club announced Wednesday.
According to reports out of Swedish newspaper Expressen, GIF Sundsvall parted with the American midfielder for a transfer fee close to 5,000,000 SEK ($564,025 USD).
Multiple clubs were competing to sign Gall, including Colorado Rapids, as well as AIK and Hammarby IF.
Gall described Malmö as “Sweden’s premier club” and the right place for his development to continue.
Rapids General Manager Padaraig Smith will have to look elsewhere in the transfer market in order to alleviate the pressure on a Colorado midfield that has had difficulty creating chances in the final third.
